Council approves license for new liquor store

Buffalo Center will soon have a liquor store again, as the BC City Council approved a liquor license for Old Fire Liquor during their Feb. 12 meeting.

Kelly Sabin, Troy Vaudt and Duane Cooper are in the process of purchasing the former Shelton’s Liquor on 1st St. NW, with plans to open yet this winter. The store closed in November following the sudden death of owner Mary Jo Shelton.

The Council also voted to formally hire Dustin Buck as the City’s interim police chief. Buck started work with the police department in late January, and he is serving on a part-time basis. The City also has a law enforcement contract with the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office.
