Fayola Cook

Fayola Joy (Kiewiet) Cook, 58, of Sarasota, FL, left this earth on January 24, 2022, at Bay Village of Sarasota after a battle with pancreatic cancer. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Heritage Town Center in Buffalo Center, with Pastor Tim Diehl officiating. Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Buffalo Center. Her family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the Heritage Town Center on Saturday.

Fay was born in Buffalo Center on January 12, 1964, to Carl and Betty (Waite) Kiewiet, joining her older brothers on the farm. After moving into town, Fay enjoyed daily rides to school with her dad and worked at the local swimming pool as a lifeguard. Fay graduated from Buffalo Center-Rake High School in 1982 and then attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Business.

Fay loved warm weather and moved to Jupiter, FL shortly after college, where she met and married Bob Cook. They lived in Jupiter for many years, where they raised their son while she worked as a health care provider. Fay moved to Sarasota recently, where she worked as a Registered Nurse at Bay Village; her friends and patients loved her dry sense of humor and kind heart. Fay spent her last days where she worked at Bay Village, surrounded by co-workers and family offering love and support to her in her time of need.

Fay will be remembered as an avid book reader who enjoyed school, her piano, and her pet cat named Benji. She was always pleasant, made friends easily, and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Fay is survived by her son, Owen, of Sarasota; her two brothers, Tom and his wife Kaylene Kiewiet of Buffalo Center and Terry and his wife Sue Kiewiet of Buffalo Center; and her nieces and nephews.

Fay was preceded in death by her parents and one niece.
