Golden Plains Wind Farm making good progress

It’s been a busy spring for construction on the new Golden Plains Wind Farm in the Buffalo Center and Lakota area, and new wind turbine towers will begin appearing on the landscape soon.

The project is being developed by EDF Renewable Energy, and Alliant Energy will take over the wind farm once it’s completed next year. Building a wind farm is a major undertaking that depends upon the cooperation of landowners, and Alliant is working with JCG Land Services to help meet the needs of landowners and keep them up to date.

Cody Dierks of JCG Land Services is the Landowner Liaison for the Golden Plains project, and he has an office set up in Buffalo Center at the old bank building on 2nd Ave. NW. He works directly with landowners to plan the site layouts for turbines on their property, including access roads, and he also handles payments for crop damages and planting losses resulting from the project.
