Kids respond to fire department’s call for help

More than a dozen kids in Buffalo Center picked up shovels to help the B.C. Fire Department following the heavy snowfall in February. The fire department held a contest on its Facebook page, challenging kids to clear snow away from a fire hydrant in town. Parents posted before and after photos of their kids doing the work, and Main Street Market rewarded participants with $10 gift certificates.

“A big thank you to all of the kids of Buffalo Center – great work helping the department out all over town!” said Buffalo Center Fire Chief Brian Blodgett. He says many parents thanked the department for giving their kids something to do.

Between the work of the kids, firemen, and the public, Blodgett says they got all the fire hydrants in town looking good.
