Lady Bison win volleyball season opener

The North Iowa Lady Bison took down the Cardinals at Garner-Hayfield/Ventura last Thursday, Aug. 23, during the varsity volleyball season opener. North Iowa won the match 3-0, with sets of 28-26, 25-12 and 25-22.

Head Coach Micah Peters, who returns for her second season with the Lady Bison, says it was a great way to start the year.

“Being one of the biggest schools in our conference, Garner always presents a challenge for the first match of the season,” said Coach Peters. “Overall, I was very pleased with our passing, which naturally led to strong and consistent swings on offense. All of our hitters recorded kills, which allowed for a wide ranging offense. Our defense also transitioned well and returned hard swings for our own offensive attacks.”

Katelin Adams led the Lady Bison in kills for the night with 10, followed by Paige Pike with seven, Cas Peterson with six, and Leah Kramersmeier with five. Adams had three aces, and Hannah Main went 17/18 from the serving line with one ace. Pike had 11 digs, and Main had 30 assists.
