Softball season ends with Regional opener

The North Iowa softball team closed out its season in Regional tournament action last Monday, July 8, as the Lady Bison hosted Northwood-Kensett for the opening round in a 2-19 loss.

“Northwood-Kensett had a record year in softball this season,” said Lady Bison Head Coach Chad Hinders. When the teams first met this year on June 26, Hinders says they were able to keep it close, with a couple of mistakes mixed in with a couple of hits proving to be the difference in a Vikings win. “So we were optimistic if we shored up a few things defensively, and were able to put the ball in play, we could get something going offensively,” said Hinders.

“In this regional contest, the Vikings had good at bats and hit the ball well. They placed the ball well; just hit it into open spaces that extended the inning. Their pitcher held us to just two hits and allowed only two runs,” said Hinders.
