Three events advance to state track

     Six North Iowa athletes are headed to the State Track & Field meet to compete in three events this Friday in Des Moines.

     The state qualifier meet was held last Thursday, May 10 in Nashua, where girls’ discus throwers Brenna Paulson and Kenzie Bengtson both made the cut for the second year in a row to advance to state. Paulson took second place with a throw of 121’1”, while Bengtson placed fourth with a throw of 112’4”.

     On the boys’ side, the distance medley team of Jacob Koppen, Jordan Boekelman, Isaiah Walk and Nathan Beenken took first place with a time of 3:42.97 to advance to state. The same group also placed second in the 4x400 relay, and they advance to state in that event with a time of 3:37.57.

     Not quite making the cutoff for state were Isaiah Walk with a second place finish in the boys’ 100 meter dash and Cas Peterson with a third place finish in the girls’ 100 meters.

     The Lady Bison took 11th place at the qualifier meet with 28 points, while the North Iowa boys placed 11th with 29 points.
